Newey recognizes ‘hidden danger’ of cost cap for F1 teams

14/04/2024 at 08:2113/04/2024 at 22:17 Formula 1's cost cap, introduced in 2021 to promote financial sustainability and closer competition, is producing an unintended consequence for teams according to Red Bull's chief technical officer, Adrian Newey. While the cost cap has achieved its goal of controlling spiraling team budgets, Newey fears it’s having a negative long-term impact on the sport's engineering talent pool. Grand Prix teams have operated under budget cap regulations since the start of the 2021 season.
