Ferrari boss changes his mind on team orders as Charles Leclerc handed huge boost

When Fred Vasseur was announced as Ferrari’s new team principal over the summer, some fans began to fear for Carlos Sainz. During his F1 career so far, Vasseur has often preferred to operate with a clear number one and number two driver, as could be seen with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu at Alfa Romeo last season. Carlos Sainz really came into his own in 2022, proving that he can beat Charles Leclerc and even picking up the first win of his career at Silverstone, making the notion of become a second driver a real kick in the teeth.
