Sebastian Vettel comments on V10 engines returning to Formula 1 in 2026

Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel has conceded that he is not entirely certain that V10 engines making a comeback in 2026 is in everyone’s best interests. Vettel had a go in Nigel Mansell’s 1992 championship winning car ahead of the British Grand Prix a few weeks back, and he used synthesised fuel – which does not produce carbon emissions – to power the engine. It has led to suggestions, given that Formula 1 has successfully created a sustainable fuel for 2026, that the high pitch roar of the V10 engines could make a return when the regulations change – only this time they would not be harmful for the environment.
