Developing new McLaren is tricky: 'You have absolutely no reference'
Formula One teams are facing another big challenge. Next season the regulations will be completely different again, which makes car development rather difficult. According to Andreas Seidl of McLaren, you have also no frame of reference to focus on. After eight years of building the same kind of cars, teams have to work hard to create a completely new car for 2022. That's a big job, which is why some teams, such as Haas, even decided last year to abandon the development of the 2021 car and focus entirely on the new one.
