'I had real doubts at the time whether Vettel would stay in Formula 1 in 2022'
Sebastian Vettel will remain active for Aston Martin in 2022 and his fellow countryman Ralf Schumacher is very happy about that. However, the former Formula 1 driver would also have understood if Vettel had quit. In recent weeks there have been rumours about a possible departure of Vettel. Things were not going well at Aston Martin and the team would like to find a new driver. However, none of these rumours were true, because on Thursday it was announced that Vettel and Lance Stroll will continue to be the drivers for Aston Martin in 2022.
