Interview with Minardi: Fans are the winners of F1's sprint format
Interview To news overview © Getty Images/Red Bull Contentpool Former F1 team boss Giancarlo Minardi believes the fans who attended Silverstone got their money's worth because of the new sprint format. The British Grand Prix saw F1 introduce a new concept with qualifying taking place on Friday evening, a 100km sprint race on Saturday and the race itself on Sunday. Minardi feels the fans were given a great spectacle as a result of the changed qualifying format. "We saw a huge crowd at the F1 race at Silverstone and I'm sure they enjoyed it," Minardi told RacingNews365. "I mean they got their money's worth and saw no less than three days of spectacle."
