The provisional starting grid for the British GP: Verstappen on pole
Qualifying for the British Grand Prix took place in a completely new format. For the first time qualifying was done in the form of a sprint race, but the results were not without modifications. A number of drivers, including Carlos Sainz and George Russell, were required to report to the stewards. Russell was penalized for the incident that took place during the sprint race between him and Sainz, and gets a gridpenalty of three places. As a result, he has lost his top 10 position on the grid and will have to start from 12th.
