F1: Former Mercedes engine boss joins Aston Martin

Aston Martin has announced the appointment of Andy Cowell, formerly Managing Director at Mercedes AMG HPP. as its new Group Chief Executive Officer. Cowell will join the team on 1 October, reporting to Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll. Current Group CEO Martin Whitmarsh will be handing over responsibility before the end of the year. Cowell is a Fellow of IMechE and the Royal Academy of Engineering and started at Cosworth before joining BMW Motorsport in 2000 and Mercedes-Ilmor in 2004 as Principal Engineer.
