Ryo Hirakawa confirmed as McLaren's reserve driver
McLaren Racing has announced that Ryo Hirakawa, the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, will join the Woking-based outfit as an F1 reserve driver as part of its Driver Development programme. The 29-year-old Japanese driver has an impressive record in Super Formula and Super GT, as well as securing the Hypercar World Endurance Drivers’ Championship title for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in 2022. He currently leads the 2023 Hypercar World Endurance Drivers' Championship, most recently winning the 2023 6 Hours of Portimão. The Kure-born racer will support McLaren from 2024 in areas including simulator development at the McLaren Technology Centre alongside time on track as part of our MCL35M testing...
