‘Verstappen clause' revealed in Sergio Perez's contract

Sergio Perez's Red Bull contract reportedly includes a provision that could reduce the Mexican driver's salary if he falls a specific number of points behind his teammate, Max Verstappen, in the driver standings. Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf has revealed that there is a clause in Perez's contract with Red Bull that would permit the team to modify his salary if he were to fall 125 points behind his team-mate. It appears that Red Bull may be able to activate this clause soon, as the 33-year-old is now precisely 125 points behind Verstappen as they head into the summer break.
