Zak Brown makes big claim about McLaren's driver line-up

McLaren took a small step back in 2022, going from fourth place the year prior to fifth, swapping places with the ever impressive Alpine. Part of the reason why the French team managed to get the better of McLaren was their driver line-up, with both Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon regularly scoring a strong haul of points, while Lando Norris scored 122 points for McLaren compared to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo’s 37. With the gap in performance obvious, McLaren decided that after two years with Daniel Ricciardo at the team, it was time for a change, opting to bring in rookie Oscar Piastri to replace the 33-year-old.
