McLaren to save $13.5mn as Oscar Piastri's salary a fraction of Daniel Ricciardo's

Oscar Piastri will reportedly earn just under £500,000 a year under his McLaren contract that will see him race with the British team until the end of 2024. The young Australian won the Formula 2 Championship last season, but could not find a seat in Formula 1 for this year. He was promoted to the role of test and reserve driver for Alpine, shadowing Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. The French side were trying to tie the Spaniard down to a new contract that would see him remain with them until the end of next year, at which point they would review him.
