Toto Wolff makes bold claim about Mercedes and Sir Lewis Hamilton's British GP pace

Despite the improvements made in recent weeks, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has affirmed that the team are still lacking fundamental pace compared to Ferrari and Red Bull. Between them, George Russell and Sir Lewis Hamilton have managed seven podium finishes this season in a campaign that has seen them struggle with “porpoising” and bouncing as a result of the new technical regulations. However, the ground effect phenomenon has begun to become less of an issue for the Silver Arrows in recent rounds of the season, and four consecutive third-placed finishes will have been a welcome run of form.
