Todt defends Hamilton's seatbelt fine

Nov.20 Jean Todt has defended the decision to slap Lewis Hamilton with a hefty fine after the seven time world champion undid his seatbelts whilst driving in Brazil. The Mercedes driver unsecured his belts on the slowing-down lap after taking the chequered flag, in order to be more visible as he showed the crowd the waving Brazilian flag. But the stewards slapped him with a EUR 25,000 fine, with all but 5,000 of that suspended until the end of next year. Many hit out at the FIA's strictness, especially when top drivers are celebrating key moments in a battle as thrilling as the 2021 championship. But FIA president Todt defended his stewards.
