Although the Mercedes driver entered the weekend atop the standings, he now finds himself trailing Max Verstappen by six points. The Red Bull driver managed to come home second behind Valtteri Bottas, while Hamilton's race was anything but straightforward. Tasked with climbing through the field following a 10-place engine grid penalty, Hamilton looked to be in line for a podium finish.
