Video: Why F1 teams are still working in the summer break
Video To news overview © Mercedes During the mandatory summer break, F1 teams are required to 'shut down' for a fortnight and put car development on hold, with no emails or meetings allowed for staff. But that does not mean that factories have fallen completely silent. While staff recover from a hectic first half of the season, it is the perfect opportunity for background work to be carried out – with no interruptions. In the video below, Mercedes team chiefs Toto Wolff, James Allison and Rob Thomas explain what is, and isn't allowed.
