Mercedes-EQ announces its withdrawal from Formula E

Mercedes-Benz has today announced that it will conclude its involvement in the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team at the end of Season 8, bringing its tenure in the fully-electric single-seater series to an end after just three seasons. Mercedes entered the FIA Formula E series in Season 6, albeit it already worked with the HWA Racelab outfit in Season 5 which laid the foundations for Mercedes' Formula E entry for the following year. A first Mercedes win for Stoffel Vandoorne in the final round of Season 6 was followed by a strong start to Season 7, setting up the team's championship challenge in only its second season.
