Higher degradation than expected at Le Castellet

Although Friday's long run analysis pointed towards a simple one-stop strategy, the 61st French Grand Prix turned into a fierce strategy battle between Red Bull and Mercedes with the Milton Keynes-based team getting the better of the Brackley-based outfit. After the high-fuel runs performed on Friday, Formula One's sole tyre manufacturer Pirelli thought that the one-stop strategy would become the standard in yesterday's French Grand Prix. The change in conditions overwrote the expections.
