Szafnauer: Upgrades coming to help Vettel's discomfort with rear instability

Article To news overview © Aston Martin Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer has explained that Sebastian Vettel's continued struggles for pace and confidence with the AMR21 stem from a lack of rear stability, but that upgrades are on the way. Aston have been particularly vocal about the loss of rear downforce they suffered for 2021, in light of the changes to the aerodynamic regulations for this year. With Aston being one of two teams to utilise a low-rake aero philosophy, the loss of grip has hit the team hard, with Sebastian Vettel particularly struggling as he also adjusts to new machinery.
