Baku confirms June's GP will go ahead – but without fans

Organisers of this June’s Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix say the event will go ahead but will not feature spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2020 event was one of many that was postponed and then ultimately cancelled on account of the pandemic. The 2021 grand prix is scheduled to take place between June 4 to 6 at the Baku City Circuit. In an update released on Friday BCC officials outlined that “every opportunity has been explored to find a way to stage the race weekend in 2021 that would allow the return of fans.” BCC organisers added that “while the global situation and pandemic response is continuing to improve it has become clear the 2021 race weekend has arrived too...
