Daniil Kvyat to take up reserve driver role with Alpine

Former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat will act as an Alpine reserve driver during the 2021 Formula 1 season, the team announced on Tuesday. Kvyat lost his seat with AlphaTauri at the end of last season, with the Red Bull junior team replacing him with Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda. The Russian has made 110 Grand Prix starts across his career, finishing on the podium three times. He fulfilled a similar role with Ferrari in 2018 after losing his seat with Toro Rosso. The move was revealed during Alpine's car launch, where the newly re-badged team unveiled their 2021 challenger, the A521.
