Seidl: We need to stay realistic about what is possible

McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has revealed the team's 'outdated infrastructure' will place restrictions on its progress over the next two years. McLaren finished third in the constructor's standings during the 2020 season and move to Mercedes power-units from the start of the 2021 campaign. However, Seidl was keen to prevent expectations from getting out of hand and admitted that there was still a way to go before the team would be competing at the front again. “On our side, we still have these big restrictions on an outdated infrastructure where it will take two years until we have all the updates in place,' he said.
