Alonso given special dispensation for 'young driver' test

Renault has expressed its gratitude to the FIA for providing double Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso with special dispensation to take part in the end-of-season 'young driver' test. The test that this year takes place at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit on December 15 and is supposed to only be available to drivers who have made two or fewer grand prix starts. Article continues under video But following a regulation tweak it now means Alonso will be able to spend at least half-a-day behind the wheel of this year's Renault R.S.20 ahead of his comeback with the rebranded Alpine team next season.
