FIA initiates investigation into Grosjean's Bahrain accident

Formula 1’s governing body, the FIA, has begun an investigation into the high-speed accident involving Romain Grosjean at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Grosjean suffered a violent accident between Turns 3 and 4 at the start of Sunday’s race in which his car split in two and burst into flames. Grosjean extricated himself from the burning wreckage, having been in the flames for almost half a minute, and was rapidly tended to by Formula 1’s medical crew. He spent three nights in hospital due to minor burns to the rear of his hands and was discharged on Wednesday.
