Brawn ‘optimistic' Schumi jnr will shine in F1

Ross Brawn has declared he is “optimistic” that Mick Schumacher will enjoy a successful Formula 1 career. F1’s motorsport managing director enjoyed a close working relationship with Mick’s father, Michael, in which they teamed up for eight constructors’ World Championship titles with Benetton and Ferrari. Schumacher also won the drivers’ crown on seven of those occasions. Brawn has known the family for a long time and is naturally taking a keen interest in Mick’s career, with the 21-year-old trying to clinch the Formula 2 Championship title before a likely step up to F1 with Haas for next season.
