Olympic legend Hoy joins Portuguese GP support bill

Olympic legend Sir Chris Hoy will compete at this year’s Portuguese Grand Prix as part of the Sports Prototype Cup support event. Hoy, 44, won six gold medals during a prolific career as a track cyclist, but since retiring from two wheels has turned his attention to four-wheeled exploits. Hoy won the 2015 European Le Mans Series in the LMP3 category and also competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans the following year. Formula 1 added the Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimao to its coronavirus-hit 2020 schedule but its support package has yet to be fully confirmed.
