Szafnauer: Our goal is to break into the top three

Aston Martin expects to challenge the primacy of Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes within three years of joining the sport, says Racing Point boss Otmar Szafnauer. Szafnauer — who joined the Silverstone outfit in 2009 when it was only a year into its life as Force India — has only ever experienced a smattering of podiums, but now sees a path to new heights with the addition of Lawrence Stroll and Aston Martin's investment. “It’s probably a three-year plan for us,” he explained to Formula1.com. “The factory will take a couple of years, and hiring the right people takes a couple of years, and during that transition phase, you won’t be at a 100% at where you want to be...
