New measures in Italy further threaten F1

Following speculation on social media last night, Italy's prime minister, Giuseppe Conte signed a decree that effectively puts 16 regions in the country in lockdown as the epicentre of the virus in Europe seeks to prevent it spreading further. The provinces include Venice, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Alessandria, Asti, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola, Vercelli, Padua, and Treviso. The move comes at a time Italy has 5,800 confirmed cases of the virus, with claims that in one 24-hour period more than 1,200 people were infected. To date there have been 33 deaths.
