Hamilton hopes young gun challengers 'get closer through the year'
Lewis Hamilton would like nothing more than to battle wheel-to-wheel on a regular basis with Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, and indeed the Mercedes driver hopes the two young chargers step up their challenge n the second part of the year. Hamilton is on track to conquer his sixth world championship title this season after heading into the summer break with a 62-point lead over Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas. While the Finn appeared to be Hamilton's only challenger in the early part of the 2019 campaign, Red Bull's Verstappen has stolen much of the Brit's thunder in the last few races, trouncing Mercedes and its drivers in Austria and in Germany.
