Why did Adrian Newey extend his role at Aston Martin?

Adrian Newey will extend his role at Aston Martin, assuming the Team Principal position while he will also retain his existing role as Managing Technical Partner, a position he has held since officially joining the team in March. Ahead of this weekend's Qatar Grand Prix, Aston Martin have announced that design legend Adrian Newey will become their Team Principal at the start of next year, as part of an extension of his role as Managing Technical Partner. As part of the restructuring process, Andy Cowell will take on a new role as Chief Strategy Officer, ' using his unique experience to help optimise the technical partnership between the Team, Honda, Aramco and Valvoline.'
