Alonso to join Andretti for third Indy bid

Fernando Alonso will return to Indianapolis this year, making his third bid for motor racing's Triple Crown. Stepping away from Formula 1 briefly in 2017, Alonso tried his hand at the Indianapolis 500 in a Andretti-backed McLaren-Honda. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, who led several laps of the race, his Honda engine let him down and he was forced to retire. Two years later he was back, this time collaborating with second-year IndyCar team Carlin. Alonso failed to make it out of qualifying. Alonso has since parted ways with McLaren, leaving him free to partner with anyone he wants for a third Indy bid. He's is, according to Diario AS, back with Andretti.
