Marcus Ericsson gets first Alfa Romeo run at Pirelli test

Marcus Ericsson completed his first Formula 1 test for the rebranded Alfa Romeo squad at the Red Bull Ring on Tuesday. Ericsson raced for the team under its Sauber guise from 2015 to 2018 but lost his seat for 2019 after it opted to recruit Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi. Ericsson stayed on as reserve driver and brand ambassador alongside his full-time commitments in the IndyCar Series. The 28-year-old was present at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend and on Tuesday got behind the wheel of the squad’s 2019 challenger for the first time as part of a Pirelli tyre test.
