Verstappen leads tributes after fatal Nürburgring crash

Max Verstappen led the tributes on a dark day for motorsport after Finnish driver Juha Miettinen lost his life during Saturday’s qualifying race for next month’s Nürburgring 24 Hours at the fearsome Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. The tragic crash occurred early in the four-hour event, just before the daunting Caracciola-Karussell. A seven-car collision brought the race to an immediate standstill, with red flags deployed – an uncommon sight on the Nordschleife. Emergency crews responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, 66-year-old Miettinen succumbed to his injuries...
