Upbeat Alonso unfazed by 30-place grid penalties

Fernando Alonso has downplayed the impact of the 30 places of power unit grid penalties he will face in the Malaysian Grand Prix, and the Spaniard believes that he can still fight for points. Alonso says he has known for a while that he would face penalties at Sepang if Honda went through with its plan to introduce an upgraded spec, and that the priority was to avoid such a situation at the Japanese GP. The McLaren driver took a similar hit just three races ago at Spa, where he started 22nd and finished seventh.
