Hamilton sets the pace in opening practice in Austin

Mercedes continued its domination of the season at the United States Grand Prix on Friday with yet another one-two in the first practice session as Lewis Hamilton led the times from teammate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton, currently leading the championship, was the only driver to set a time of under the 1 minute 40 second mark, nearly two-tenths quicker than title rival Rosberg. McLaren set competitive times with Jenson Button third and Kevin Magnussen fifth, with Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat sandwiched between the two. Fernando Alonso was sixth in the Ferrari ahead of the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel. Felipe Nasr, who stepped in Valtteri Bottas’ Williams for the session, was eighth while...
