Bianchi suffered 'diffuse axonal injury'

Jules Bianchi's family has thanked fans for their "messages of support and affection" and also confirmed he remains in a "critical but stable condition". The 25-year-old was injured when his Marussia crashed into a recovery vehicle that was busy removing the stricken Sauber of Adrian Sutil, which went off the track at Turn 7, during the Japanese Grand Prix. He underwent an operation at the Mie General Medical Center on Sunday evening with the FIA confirming he suffered "severe head trauma" during the crash.
