Ex-F1 driver de Cesaris dies in road accident

The Italian Formula 1 driver Andrea de Cesaris has been killed in a motorcycle accident in Rome. de Cesaris enjoyed a grand prix career that spanned from 1980 to 1994 during which time he raced for Alfa Romeo, McLaren, Ligier, Minardi, Brabham, Rial, Scuderia Italia, Jordan, Tyrrell and finally Sauber. He took part in the short-lived Grand Prix Masters events in the middle of last decade and he became an avid windsurfer. de Cesaris had earned a less than endearing reputation for crashing throughout his career which failed to yield any GP victories. In his final year in F1 and after a handful of races with Jordan, he replaced the badly injured Karl Wendlinger at Sauber who had crashed...
