De Cesaris killed in motorbike accident

McLaren Former Formula 1 driver Andrea de Cesaris has died following a motorbike accident in Italy. Local media reports say that the 55-year-old was killed instantly in the crash near Rome. De Cesaris participated in 214 races across a 15 year career in the sport, and while he set a record for most races without a victory, he was a popular figure within the Formula 1 paddock. De Cesaris made his Formula 1 debut in 1980 with Alfa Romeo and his lengthy career took him to McLaren, Ligier, Minardi, Brabham, Rial and Dallara, before he joined Jordan's first foray into the top echelon of the sport.
