Maldonado set for 10-place grid penalty
Pastor Maldonado has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, after becoming the second driver of the season to use a sixth internal combustion engine (ICE).
The new 2014 regulations state that drivers can only use five of each power-unit component. If a sixth is used, a penalty will be handed out.
'The internal combustion engine used by Pastor Maldonado is the sixth new internal combustion engine for the 2014 championship season and as this is not in conformity with article 28.4a of the 2014 Formula One Sporting Regulations, I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration,' said FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer.
