Massa tops opening day of testing at Silverstone

Felipe Massa set the pace for Williams on the opening day of the post-British Grand Prix test. Massa, who crashed out of Sunday’s race, ended the day at the top of the time sheets with a best lap of 1:35.242. Daniel Ricciardo was second, just six hundredths shy of the Brazilian, completing 72 laps at the wheel of the Red Bull, with Nico Rosberg, who completed 90 laps on the day, third fastest overall for Mercedes. Adrian Sutil was fourth, the German improving late in the session, while Marussia’s Jules Bianchi, who will test for Ferrari on Wednesday, and completed the most laps on the day with 108, was fifth. McLaren starlet Stoffel Vandoorne ended the day sixth overall at the wheel...
