Nico Rosberg secures controversial pole position at Monaco

Nico Rosberg has secured a controversial pole position ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, after the German ran wide at turn five and therefore prevented anyone from improving due to the yellow flags. Lewis Hamilton was therefore forced to settle for second on the grid, with Daniel Ricciardo third in the Red Bull. Amidst the traditional sunshine and iconic harbour backdrop, the all-important qualifying session ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix got underway with the Mercedes duo becoming the first to take to the Monte-Carlo street circuit in the opening segment.
