Rosberg claims Monaco pole

Nico Rosberg ended team-mate Lewis Hamilton's run of pole positions at the Monaco GP despite running off the circuit on his final qualifying lap.With Red Bull's pole challenge not materialising despite showing strongly to the two W05s in final practice, the battle of the front row again came down to a straight fight between the two championship leading Mercedes drivers. Rosberg had set the pace in Q1 and then through the opening forays in Q3, but appeared to blow his chances when he ran straight on into the escape road at Mirebeau after a big lock-up on the brakes.
