Symonds praises Mercedes power-unit

Williams F1 Team chief technical officer Pat Symonds has praised the new Mercedes V6 Turbo power-unit, saying it is a 'real quality product'. The Grove-based outfit switched from Renault to Mercedes power for the 2014 season and, so far, it has proved to be the right choice. The German manufacturer's V6 Turbo has proved to be the most reliable of winter testing so far and has topped five of the six sessions. Thursday marked the halfway point of pre-season testing. Mercedes-powered cars have completed 1416 laps, in comparison to Ferrari's tally of 761 and Renault's 445. 'We're very, very pleased with the power unit.
