Pujolar needed a change from Williams
Toro Rosso engineer Xevi Pujolar has said that he required a 'change of scenery' from Williams after the team failed to adapt accordingly to life at the bottom-end of Formula One's midfield.
Pujolar joined the team as Pastor Maldonado's race engineer in 2011 before taking up the role of chief engineer for the 2013 season. Despite playing a part in Maldonado's victory at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix, Pujolar found that the situation at Williams had become too difficult in 2013 as the team picked up just five points in total.
'Last year, the situation at Williams was quite difficult, and I did not feel happy,' he explained to El Confidencial. 'Therefore, I decided on an alternative.
