Perez gets grid-penalty for gearbox change

Sergio Perez will drop five-places on the grid after receiving a penalty for changing his gearbox following a crash in qualifying. The Mexican ran wide on the exit of turn five which caused his car to spin on the wet kerbs. He eventually ended up hitting the wall and heavily damaging his car. As a result of the damage, McLaren have chosen to replace his gearbox which, under the regulations, brings a five-place penalty. Perez, who is racing for the last time with McLaren, qualified 14th, but will now start 19th behind Caterham's Charles Pic.
