Vettel says win justifies tyre complaints

Sebastian Vettel says his victory in the Canadian Grand Prix justifies his previous comments about the structural safety of Pirelli's tyres. The reigning world champion had suggested that Pirelli's tyres needed modifying to prevent delaminations that struck in several events this season. Vettel says his comments show that he was concerned about safety, rather than Red Bull seeking to gain extra performance through modified tyres. 'I think it's pretty simple. The criticism we had or I expressed was not based on performance,' he said. 'I think it was based on safety and I'm sure if you ask other drivers, maybe they weren't that strong in the press, maybe they think they have an advantage...
