Did conditions contribute to McLaren’s dominant showing at the Hungaroring?
Lando Norris has admitted that a favourable change in wind direction played a crucial role in McLaren's pace at the Hungarian Grand Prix, revealing that the conditions at the Hungaroring suited the MCL40 far better than they had earlier in the weekend. Norris claimed his first Grand Prix victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season in Budapest, but the triumph was anything but straightforward. Although the Briton launched well from pole position, he ran slightly wide at Turn 2 on the opening lap, allowing team-mate Oscar Piastri to sweep around the outside and take the lead.
