Russell says ‘epic’ final Q3 flyer ‘came from nowhere’

In a qualifying session that swung from frustration to euphoria in the blink of an eye, George Russell produced a final-lap masterstroke that he says “came from nowhere” to seize Canadian Grand Prix pole. After already lighting up the weekend with Sprint pole and a controlled Sprint victory against teammate Kimi Antonelli, Russell arrived in qualifying as a favourite – but quickly found himself battling more than just rivals.
