Russell heads Mercedes one-two in Montreal sprint qualifying

George Russell secured pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix Sprint after delivering a composed and decisive performance in Sprint Qualifying, leading a dominant Mercedes front‑row lockout ahead of his team mate Kimi Antonelli. The Briton had already signalled his intent by topping SQ2, and he carried that momentum into the final phase. His opening lap in SQ3 was strong enough for provisional pole, but he improved further on his final attempt, setting a benchmark time of 1:12.965 that none of his rivals could match.
