Max Verstappen’s bid to conquer the Nürburgring 24 Hours has ended in a cloud of mechanical despair – just as victory had looked within reach, and with only a few hours remaining on the clock. After spending much of the night at the sharp end of the field, the #3 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 – shared by Verstappen and his teammates – was suddenly struck by a major technical issue.
